Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana is a central government scheme to provide pension to all the small and marginal farmers of India. Under this scheme, a monthly pension of Rs. 3000 will be provided after attaining the age of 60 years. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PMKMY) is also known as Kisan Pension Yojana. This yojana is a central government scheme that was launched on 31 May 2019 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. This scheme is meant for old age protection and social security of Small and marginal farmers (SMF). Under this scheme, a minimum assured pension of Rs. 3000 per month will be provided to the farmers after attaining the age of 60 years.

Objective of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana

 

The main objective of PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana is to provide a minimum assured pension of Rs. 3000 per month to all the Small and Marginal Farmers (SMF) of India after the age of 60 years. This means that SMFs will be provided Rs. 36,000 per annum. This scheme will make farmers self reliant in old age. 

 

 

Eligibility criteria for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana

  1. Small and marginal farmers of India. 
  2. The age of the farmer should be between 18 and 40 years. 
  3. The farmer should possess cultivable landholding of 2 hectares as per land records of the concerned State/UT.

 

 

 

Prerequisites for the enrollment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana

  • Aadhaar Card. 
  • Saving bank Account Number with IFSC Code (Bank Passbook or Cheque book  or copy of bank statement as evidence of bank account).

 

 

 

 Who are not eligible for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana?

  1. Small and Marginal Farmers (SMF) are covered under national Pension Scheme (NPS). Employees’ State insurance Corporation Scheme, Employees’ Fund Organization Scheme etc. 
  2. SMFs who choose Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana and National Pension Scheme for traders and Self Employed persons administered by the Ministery of Labour & Employment. 
  3. The following categories of beneficiaries of higher economic status shall not be eligible for benefits under the scheme:

 

a.      All Institutional land Holders

 

b.      Former and present holders of constitutional posts.

 

c.       Former and present Minister/State Ministers and former/present Members of Lok Sabha/State Legislative Assemblies/State legislative Councils, former and present mayors of Municipal Corporations, former and present Chairpersons of district panchayats.

 

d.      All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government Ministers/Offices/Departments and their field units, Central or state PSEs and Attached offices/Autonomous Institutions under Government as well as regular employees of the Local bodies (excluding Multi Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees).

 

e.      All persons who paid Income tax in last assessment year. (f) Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects registered with Professionals bodies and carrying out profession by undertaking practice.

 

 

Feature of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PMKMY)

  1. A minimum assured pension of Rs. 3000 per month will be provided to all Small and Marginal farmers (SMF) after attaining 60 years of age. 
  2. If the farmer dies, the spouse of the farmer would receive 50% of the pension i.e Rs. 1500 as family pension. Family pension is applicable only to spouse. 
  3. PMKMY is a voluntary and contributory scheme. 
  4. Life Insurance Company acts as Nodal Agency. 
  5. The age of the farmer should be between 18 and 40 years of age. 
  6. The monthly contributions ranges from Rs 55 to Rs. 200 till the farmer attain the age of 60 years. 
  7. Through this scheme, nearly 5 crore of Small and Marginal farmers will be benefited.

 

 

 

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana

  1. Benefits to the family on the death of the farmer: If the farmer dies during the pension period, his spouse shall be entitled to receive 50% of the pension i.e Rs. 1500 per month as family pension. 
  2. Benefits on disablement before attaining 60 years of age:If a farmer become permanently disabled before attaining 60 years of age and made regular contributions, and is unable to continue to contribute under this scheme, then –

 

a.      His/her spouse shall be entitled to continue the scheme by paying monthly contribution as applicable.

 

b.      His/her spouse can exit the scheme by receiving the share of contribution deposited by the farmer, with interest as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the saving bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

 

3.      3. Benefits on Leaving the Pension Scheme:

 

a.   If the farmer exits this scheme within a period of less than 10 years from the date of joining the scheme, then the contribution will be returned with savings bank interest rate payable thereon.

 

b.  If the farmer exits the scheme after completion of 10 years or more from the date of joining the scheme but before attaining 60 years of age, then the contribution shall be returned with accumulated interest thereon as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the savings bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

 

c.  If a farmer dies before attaining 60 years of age but made regular contributions, then – his/her spouse shall be entitled to continue the scheme by paying monthly contribution as applicable or his/her spouse can exit the scheme by receiving the share of contribution deposited by the farmer, with interest as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the saving bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

 

d.   After the death of the farmer and his or her spouse, the corpus shall be credited back to the fund.

How to apply for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana 2022?

 

Step 1: The eligible SMFs should visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) along with all the necessary documents.

 

Step 2: The documents should be handed over to the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE).

 

Step 3: The VLE will complete the online registration by filling all the necessary details like Bank Account details, Mobile Number, Nominee name etc.

 

Step 4: The monthly contribution payable according to the age of SMFs will be calculated by the system.

 

Sttep 5: The SMFs will pay the 1stcontribution amount in cash to the VLE.

 

Step 6: Enrollment cum Auto Debit mandate form will be printed and will be further signed by the SMF. VLE will scan the same and upload it into the system.

 

Step 7: A unique Kisan Pension Number (KPAN) will be generated and Kisan card will be printed. 

 

 

 

How to Change incorrect bank details or any other details?

 

The subscriber (SMF) who desires to change any incorrect bank details or any other details should approach CSC or Village Entrepreneur (VLE) present at the CSC, along with PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana number and Aadhaar Card. However, Date of Birth (DOB) cannot be changed at any time.
