The government of Himachal Pradesh has launched a scheme named Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana to ensure better life and education for orphans and destitute children of the state. Under this scheme, 6000 destitute children of the state will be adopted and supported by the government.  All kinds of financial assistance for education, home and marriage will be provided by the government. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has announced the launch of the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana on 16 February 2023. Through this scheme, 6000 orphan and destitute children of the state will be adopted as “Children of the state” by the state government. These children will also be provided financial assistance of Rs 4000 every month. Under this scheme, the government will provide shelter, food, clothing, higher education, vocational training and skill development till they attain the age of 27 years. All the benefits of home, education and marriage will be provided by the government to the children.  The scheme will also cover  specially-abled children, destitute women and senior citizens of the state. A budget of Rs 101 crore has been set by the government for the smooth operation of this scheme.

How much money will be received in Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana?

Under the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana, financial assistance will be given for the following facilities whose details are given below.

• Under Mukhyamantari Sukh Aashray Yojana 2023, a recurring deposit account will be opened for orphan children and destitute women living in institutions.
• Rs 1000 will be directly transferred to the bank account by the government every month to the children in the age group of 0 to 14 years. 
• On the other hand, orphan children and single women in the age group of 14 to 18 years will be provided financial assistance of Rs 2500 every month.
• Under this scheme, children above 18 years of age will be given an amount of Rs 1 lakh every year for coaching and hostel fees.
• Orphan children will be given a scholarship of Rs 4000 every month for accommodation at the time of coaching.
• Rs 2 lakh will be granted to those orphan children who are eligible for marriage.  Orphan children who want to start their own startup will be given a lump sum amount of Rs 2 lakh by the government. 
• Children living in orphanages will be given Rs 500 every year by the government to celebrate festivals on all festivals.
